CLAY ALQUEMIST • CULTURAL PRODUCER • VISUAL DESIGNER

Im a Raizal trained urban designer, turned community connections architect on a mission to fight apathy and isolation one beat at a time through MIAMIBLOCO, with my partner Brian.

My personal practice unites my love for music and patterns through utilitarian and ritual ceramic objects, inspired by contemporary culture and meaning-making inspired by ancestral cultures .

I have a deep appreciation for the almost totemic quality that handmade objects are often bestowed in many cultures around the world, and seek to imbibe my pieces with a reverence for the subject and medium, specially in the “I’ll amazon prime that!” era.

My ceramic practice is fun, accessible, and often features jazz musicians, activists, totems, and visions inspired in my travels, work, and research with first peoples of the Americas and Caribbean.

I enjoy making pipes as ritualistic and artistic sculptures, because I don’t have the skills to make chairs, my first choice for utilitarian sculpture.

I love creating wearable accessories as well, their delicate nature naturally requires attention and care from the user, this level of presence is a small but meaningful way in which to infuse an every day thing with a reverent quality.

In the summers, I activate a brand and advocacy project named Diasporic Thread, a sporadic exploration of afrofuturism, Raizal culture, the Diasporic experience and the use of entheogens as a reclamation vehicle to the inaccessible cultural narratives truncated between our generation and our ancestors.
